BREAKING! BREAKING!! BREAKING!!! NOCSON CALLS ON IGP EGBETOKUN ET’AL TO QUICKLY ARREST, PROSECUTE ALL, SUNDRY INVOLVE IN THE RECENT BENIN CITY, AIRPORT ROAD SHOOTING

Speaking to the Members of the Fourth Estate of the realm at the Urban Oasis Hotel G.R.A, Benin City, South-South, Nigeria, the president of Network of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria (NOCSON) Comrade Ogbidi Emmanuel states that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun should quickly with immediate fiat arrest and prosecute all and sundry that were involved at the unfortunate Benin City, Airport Road broad day shootings at the citizenry adding that the bizarre developments at the build up of Edo 2024 Governorship Election come September 21^st, 2024 has deftly and critically created unhealthy developments which in the right order of schemes of things are very worrisome to the good citizenry of Edo State and as well as the Republic. 

Furthermore Comrade Ogbidi notes that the citizenry of Edo State clearly recollect of how one Onu Oku a gallant serving inspector of police got killed and as well as several civilians passers by injured at the unfortunate incident triggered by political matters surrounding the court judgment and impeachment of former Deputy Governor of Edo State adding that it is really sad that 26 days after the ugly and hopeless incident of the politicians who vainly displayed sophisticated weapons with their  thugs which they largely brandished publicly in a war like manner and also he added that the Nigeria Police Force has not made any single arrest in connection with the said Benin City Airport Road shootings. 

Furthermore Comrade Ogbidi states that the world press conference his Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) held, Tuesday, August 13^th, 2024 is purely to place a clarion call to the IGP Egbetokun and other sisters security outfits to as a matter of discharging high level of duties to arrest and prosecute all and sundry that are  involve at Benin City Airport Road shootings  regardless of their political learnings adding that the flagrant delays of the NPF to take decisive actions actually cast shadows of doubts on the capacity and professionalism of the Edo State command to handle issues in the approaching days as the governorship election of Edo State is few fleeting days from now. 

Speaking further to newsmen at Urban Oasis Hotel, Comrade Ogbidi stated that they are using this channel of the World Press Conference to heavily charge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be above board at the upcoming Gubernatorial Election of Edo State should be conducted freely, fairly, credibly, peacefully such that no political party will be willing to challenge the results at the court as the processes shall be visibly transparent in line with the global best applications and Nigeria Electoral Act as amended. 

He adds that the election should be a deviation and of great improvements of the 2023 General Elections where BIVAS failed in all ramifications. He adds that they commend INEC for the good outing at the last voter’s registration experimentations. 

He adds that they shall remain resolute and continue to monitor the processes in the Edo 2024 Governorship Election to ensure that the election shall truly reflect the will and choice of the electorate.
